The SB5 is perhaps our most versatile all-mountain bike. Born on the trails of Colorado, this bike represents everything a trail bike should be – lightweight, nimble on climbs and dominant on descents.

Features
Switch Infinity: The SB5 is built around our patented Switch Infinity suspension system. Switch Infinity utilizes a patented translating pivot that switches direction as the bike moves through its travel. This provides anti-squat characteristics for superior pedaling performance and ideal suspension characteristics as it gets deeper into the travel.
Build for the down but it can get up: The Switch Infinity suspension was tuned for anti-squat and leverage ratio properties that equally balance the downhill capabilities with uphill pedaling efficiency. Making this an optimum choice to slay all day epics, a multi-day bike packing trip or local rip.
Retooled Metric Shock: Working with FOX we retooled the SB5’s shock with an exclusive air volume configuration and tune. This resulted in better mid-stroke compression and small bump sensitivity providing a wider range of riders with a custom feel.
Compatible with Plus size tires: You can now run a range of tires sizes on the SB5 all the way up to a 2.8” plus size. This option makes an already versatile trail bike even more so as you can change out the tread to accommodate your terrain, riding style or whatever combo suits your needs.
Integrated axle and hanger: The integrated axle and derailleur hanger system is built for simplicity and strength. Utilizing a left-hand thread to secure the hanger allows us to incorporate the same machine piece for the axle retention. A clever little system the engineers spent many hours on that might get overlooked.
Custom Frame Protectors: On the SB5 the frame protectors for the down tube and chainstay are custom molded to match the frame. This guarantees a proper fit and adhension to the frame for years of protection without the need for replacement or additional adhensives.
Internal routing: May seem like a small thing but having a clean aesthetic on the frame along with internally molded carbon tubes inside of the frame for hassle-free cable routing. It makes for a quiet ride and ease of maintenance. For us, building a great frame is all about the details.
Technology
Switch Infinity: Switch infinity is a Yeti patented system that utilizes a linear translating pivot. This provides a tailored anti-squat curve that other system can’t physically achieve. An initially high anti-squat value delivers superior pedaling performance. Further into the travel, the anti-squat quickly drops off to allow the custom tuned FOX shock to perform as intended. These Characteristics provide excellent mid stroke support and a bottomless feel.
The Mechanical Advantage
Tunable: Switch Infinity is a versatile system easily adaptable to different travel platforms. The system can be mounted in any orientation and can achieve a myriad of kinematics depending on a design intent. For example, longer travel bikes require drastically different kinematics later in the travel (controlling wheel path trajectory). The Switch Infinity system can control this much more precisely than other suspension designs because of the linear path of the main pivot. We also can control leverage ratio and anti-squat with much greater freedom than other systems.
Durable: The Switch Infinity is a simple, lightweight, bombproof system built by FOX from proven suspension components and engineered and tested to withstand the worst riding conditions. We only use the best components in its construction – Kashima coated stanchions for low friction and durability, seals and bushings that are used in Fox’s motor sports division, and a lightweight forged translating pivot.
Anti-Squat: We are aiming for a relatively flat and high anti-squat curve in the beginning and mid-section of travel where pedaling commonly occurs a.k.a the pedaling zone. This creates an efficient pedaling zone, as opposed to one single point. After the pedaling zone, there is an inflection point where the Switch Infinity link begins to move down, dropping the anti-squat drastically. You’re typically not pedaling on this zone, so we want the chain forces to have less of an effect on the suspension performance since its an opposing force. Decoupling of the chain forces allows the suspension to work more efficiently to absorb impacts.
Leverage ratio: We aim to design a leverage rate with linear progression. A straighter, more linear curve means it’s easier to tune shocks to pair with suspensions kinematics, and we don’t have to rely on damping circuits to compensate. We can choose a leverage ratio that provides small bump sensitivity and enough progression to maintain mid-stroke support a bottom out control. Being able to manipulate the leverage ratio without affecting the anti-squat characteristics is unique to our patented Switch Infinity suspension.
Materials
TURQ Series: TURQ Series bike are made with the highest quality carbon fiber available and offer the perfect balance of stiffness and compliance. The results is a bike that feels smooth, solid and aggressive. Every bike is tested by the best races in the world, including EWS World Champion Richie Rude, our in-house testing team and ambassadors around the world.
C/Series: By making small changes in the carbon fiber layup of our TURQ Series bikes, we are able to create a more aggressively priced carbon high-performance mountain bike. C-Series frames maintain the strength and stiffness of the TURQ Series. The carbon fiber in C-Series weighs a bit more, about 250g per frame (1/2 pound). Every bike model is offered in at least one C-Series option with high-end components.
